Korean nightlife could not even remotely be mentioned without including the "Norae-Bangs" (Singing rooms). They are karaoke singing rooms and are nearly as prevalent as convenience stores; they are everywhere. But unlike what a Westerner might have in mind, they are very fancy private rooms where you go in and sing with your party.
They are elegant rooms with chandeliers, couches and a large screen TV. They come equipped with professional microphones and even tambourines.
There are large books of music to browse through, then you choose your selection and punch it into the computer, grab a microphone and sing.
Meanwhile there are hostesses that will bring you beer and side dishes as you request them, or whatever else you might need, even a hostess herself if you request one (to sing with you, of course).
Norae-Bangs are a blast and everyone goes to them.
These photos and video are from a night a bunch of us went to a Norae-Bang in Teoan earlier this year.
